Cow's milk in Dutch

On a Dutch label cow's milk reads koemelk.

What is cow's milk?

Cow's milk is milk from cows. No shop names it separately, so we read it off the label: every product with milk counts as cow's milk, unless its ingredient list names only goat's, sheep's or buffalo milk. Note: most people with a cow's milk allergy also react to goat's and sheep's milk, because the proteins are very much alike. Ask your doctor or dietitian whether that applies to you before you switch.

Part of Milk: everything about the label, traces and shopping is there.

How to avoid cow's milk

  • Read the ingredient list: in the EU the fourteen legal allergens are printed in bold, also on a Dutch pack.
  • If even a little matters, turn on ‘may contain traces’ in the finder: those products then drop out too.
  • Recipes change: check the label of products you already know, too.
