What is aluminium?

Aluminium salts in deodorant (an antiperspirant) reduce sweating. A deodorant without them usually says ‘aluminium free’ (aluminiumvrij) on the pack.

Recognise

On a Dutch label as

  • aluminium
  • aluminum

May also be it

  • alum (aluin)

Not aluminium

  • deodorant without antiperspirant

We look for these Dutch words in the ingredient list itself, also between brackets. If in doubt, read the pack.

What to look for in the shop

  • Read the ingredient list (INCI) on the pack: the substances are there under their English or Latin names.
