What are flavourings?

Flavourings give taste or smell. ‘Natural flavouring’ (natuurlijk aroma) comes from a natural source; ‘flavouring’ (aroma) on its own may also be artificial.

Recognise

On a Dutch label as

  • aroma
  • aroma's
  • aromas

May also be it

  • natural flavouring
  • smoke flavouring

Not flavourings

  • herbs and spices

We look for these Dutch words in the ingredient list itself, also between brackets. If in doubt, read the pack.
