What is mineral oil?

Mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum, petrolatum or vaseline) comes from crude oil. It keeps skin greasy but does not nourish it.

Recognise

On a Dutch label as

  • paraffinum liquidum
  • mineral oil
  • petrolatum
  • paraffin

May also be it

  • vaseline
  • ceresin and microcrystalline wax

Not mineral oil

  • vegetable oils and shea butter

We look for these Dutch words in the ingredient list itself, also between brackets. If in doubt, read the pack.
